    Good morning everyone,

Typically I've got so far through a job and can go no further. Does anyone recognise what type of locking wheel nut that is? So what the key for it would be? It's on my Dads Golf, I've come to do the brakes and for some reason on just one of the wheels he has this random nut! The rest are the common spline version but I've no idea why that is there but I have no way of getting it off!

He had tyres changed 2 months ago and so the garage must have got it off but I've just spoken with them and they said they don't hold any keys and it must've been the customer who supplied the extra locking wheel nut if it's different. My dad is no way car inclined at all so he would have asked me to source this for him had this been an issue yet he knows nothing of it and nor do I.

Would be really grateful for a prompt reply from anyone who either has one that I can borrow for a day or if someone knows where I can purchase one from asap! Thank you on advance..

Hi! For me this looks like some kind of safety bolt to challange car thiefs. So wheels can't be removed just by simple tool which almost everyone has. It's actually a pretty common thing. I would suggest you to buy OEM replacement bolt from some scrapyard and then go to some tyre garage and change this bolt. Every decent tyre garage should have at least some universal tools for remowing nuts like this one. It is possible to try to remove this just by chisel and hammer, but I don't recommend this at all. That way you can end up with bolt which is impossible to get out.

That looks pretty chewed up whatever it is and could be the case the tyre shop just belted on an impact socket, it looks similar to these on ebay, you could try and find a VW set and see if the key socket has the master spline in the same place. Get rid of all the locking bolts and replace with standard, no one nicks golf wheels like that anymore do they !!??
