VW Golf 1.6 TDI BMT DSG, 65k miles.
Car has been very loud when revving. Splutters on some cold mornings.

Short history of the car its had the following done:

    • CamBelt (2015)
    • Fuel Pump (2015)
    • Injectors adaptation (2016)
    • EGR valve (Sept 2017)
    • Fuel filter (Sept 2017
    • Reconditioned injectors (Sept 2017)

The mechanic has given up. You can hear the sound clearly in the video below, its noticeable when warm and very loud when going up a hill (load). I really don't know what else to do to fix the car! Thousands spent on a 'reliable' car , i miss my MK5! Also tried BG cleaner and DPF cleaner to no avail.

Has it had the stupid recal done. The source of the injectors alarms me, where did they come from? I can barely make the noise out even with headphones on but it suggests a restricted exhaust flow so turbo/cat-DPF. Where did the EGR valve come from?

Not as far as I know, I took it to VW for a free checkup last year and they did not say they will update the software. If they did, it was without my consent! EGR was bought from TPS. Injectors are in the picture below.

They are the old injectors which are useless, you need to upgrade to the S revision which is a VDO A2C9626040080.

So reconditioning was a waste of money?

Injectors are around £200 each do you think chances are that is the issue? Thanks crasher.

Without being hands on with the car it is impossible for me to say BUT these injectors are a joke, so far the replacements have been fine. Make sure you get genuine VDO injectors but these retail at£470 each from Euro Car Parts and and a lot more than £200 each trade.

I would suggest a reputable VW specialist and if the find the injectors are faulty, use VDO ones (such as from ECP) and then take the others back to where they came from and demand a refund.
