You have put a 2G AMI unit into a 3G car.

Your car is 3G basic and you can put the cd changer back into the car.

The 3G ami is a lead only which plugs into MMI unit.

they cost around £100 for the lead.

The plug is added into the quad lock connector in the MMI unit and not the cd changer.

The leads are expensive on eBay trending at £145 onwards.

I didn't have to put an ami unit into my car, I used one of these, it's my understanding you don't need an ami unit if your car is 3g, but you do if it's mmi 2g, does 3g basic have the smooth control knob on the centre console then? Never simple these audi's

    Furryhobn0b,

The joystick in the MMI button says it 3G high.

Do do you have the 3D maps if so then definitely 3G high.

In in your version page it will start with Hnav and not Bnav.

I think I have 3d maps, don't really use the inbuilt sat nav, I'll check my version and see what it says, I have the built in hdd so think mine is the 3g high

I’m going to be picking a 55 plate A6 Avant in a week or so’s time. I’ve got a feeling due to the age that it’ll be 2G. If you can’t use that AMI unit then I might be interested in it.
