This seems to be happening more amd more frequently at the minute. After only about 5 minutes of driving, before the oil temperature is 50deg, the engine will idle at 1000rpm. Turning the engine off and on again will clear it temporarily but after another minute ir so it's back!

Also after a long run, about 20 minutes last night, both fans kicked in and stayed on for about 5 minutes after the engine was shut down.

Presuming it's a diesel engine it sounds like an active diesel particulate filter regeneration is underway, maybe you are doing a lot of shorter journeys ? Have you had the DPF light come on the dash. Read up on active and passive DPF regeneration. Your DPF may be getting blocked and need cleaning or it might just need a good hot thrashing down the motorway. If 20 minutes is a 'long run' then it probably is needing a proper good long run.

Take it back and ask them to check the calibration of the pressure sensor.
