    I have a ABS problem at my audi a3 1.8t 98.
My ABS-lamp light sometimes and sometimes not.
Its happend when I start the car after a while. But if I stop it and start again, it still lights up. But after driving a few meters it turns off. (sometimes I have to drive it hard before it leaves). Then it will not be left until the car has been turned off for a little while.

Measured the battery after it has stood for a while and is 12.2 volts, so I'm sure it's not going to do anything about it?

Do anyone have that problem before?

Check all your wheel sensors and reluctor rings for dirt and damage, you can check the sensors for output by connecting a volt meter and turning the hub to see if the sensor generates a small voltage. check the wiring connectors at the sensors, your intermeiient fault sounds like a bad connection somewhere. if all ok check the ABS unit, these have pressure switch, solenoid valves and a pump that can fail and a circuit board that can get cracked solder joints, you can send the abs unit away for repairs. I don't know if there is much diagnostics you can plug in to pinpoint the problem on a '98. Maybe VCDS would pick something up though.

vagcom/VCDS will give the exact fault code--internal pressure switch on MK60 abs pumps is conman fault- but it may just be a case of doing a basic setting on the abs module !! really need a scan and fault codes !!!
