    Hi Guys,
I have this code in the instrument cluster.

    Address 17: Instruments (J285) Labels: 4F0-920-xxx-17.clb
    Part No SW: 4F0 920 983 G HW: 4F0 920 983 G
    Component: KOMBIINSTR. H06 0138
    Revision: 00300000 Serial number: BH2214N69
    Coding: 2F74090502002600010400
    Shop #: WSC 02391 823 56573
    VCID: 306FF1D2630ED29890B

    1 Fault Found:
    00003 - Control Module
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 01100101
    Fault Priority: 6
    Fault Frequency: 1
    Reset counter: 241
    Mileage: 60951 km
    Time Indication: 0
    Date: 2013.06.27
    Time: 16:27:55

    How do i clear it?

The Ross Tech Wiki mentions running the basic settings but this is not availble when i access the instruments.

I did a clear all faults in the Auto Scan page but it has not cleared the cluster works fine.

Do you think maybe try clearing the code in the 17 instrument page would do it?

    Cheers dan

Did you clear and rescan? If its not affecting the way the instrument cluster works then I wouldn't be too worried.

Are you using a genuine cable?

    The problem has been solved.

Channel 43 had the wrong value set into it, it had a value of 306 which is incorrect it should be 300.

The correct value of 300 entered and the fault has cleared.

This must be a bug in the VCDS software 11.11.6. They are aware of this.

If resetting the SRI using VCDS check this channel after doing it, this is for longlife reset.

No, but a member on the A3 forum had the same issue and he contacted them and they advised to check channel 42,43,44,45 and 49.

I have lost the link but i will find it and post it up.

Link found 005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation error after SRI reset

This is basically what Ross Tech told the member on ASN.

Just incase anyone else comes across this problem I got a reply from Peter from ross-tech with the following thats now cleared the code:

"You may need to manually adapt the channels.

To reset these to factory default settings,

    In VCDS
    >
    > Select Address 17-Instruments
    > [Adaptation]
    > Enter in Channel [42], Read
    > New value = [145]
    >
    > Enter in Channel [43], Read
    > New value = [300]
    >
    > Enter in Channel [44], Read
    > New value = 730]
    >
    > Enter in Channel [45], Read
    > New value = [2]

    > Enter in Channel [49], Read
    > New value = [730]"
