Wifes car is up for replacement next spring and an A3 appears to fit the bill perfectly. We had a Leon Mk3 1.4 TSi 140 PS from early 2013 to this spring and it was a brilliant car but a bit too small. Replaced it with a Superb 1.4 TSi 150 PS which is equally brilliant, not quite as quick (hardly surprising considering its size) but possibly a bit better on fuel (the ACT perhaps?).

I fancy getting her the 2.0 TFSI Sport 5 door which appears to tick all the boxes with only a couple of options required. Did think about a Golf GTI but the extra power is not really necessary and the sports suspension and 18" wheels do not appeal at all. The A3 looks a better car for us without a doubt especially since its a bit cheaper as well.

Now down to my question. When I bought the Leon I got a set of genuine VAG 6.5 x 16" steel wheels with the correct offset for MQB cars (ET 46). I was going to stick them on E-Bay soon since although they will fit the Superb the offset should be ET 41 and the tyres are the wrong size (205 55 16 fitted, Superb uses 215 60 16). I have looked on a few sites and these wheels appear to be listed as fitting the 2.0 TFSI but I am a little concerned that if the brakes are bigger the 16" wheels may foul.

If the wheels will fit I plan to hang on to them, if not they might as well go to make some room in the shed.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

I can't give you a definite answer but the wheels should fit as they are the correct size and offset. Can't confirm myself as I think the S3 has bigger discs.

Thanks for that, yup, its the size of the disk/caliper that would cause issues.

Found this site Wheel-Size.com :: Reference guide for car wheel and tire dimensions such as size, offset, PCD which appears to suggest that the 6.5 x 16 46 ET wheel with 205//15 x 16 is fine for the 2.0 TFSI and most of the other info for VW's and Audi's looks OK. But look up the Seat Leon and its total nonsense. The 1.4 TSi we had came with 16" wheels in SE trim and 17" in FR trim. The site only lists 17" wheels for a 1.4 and when they show a 6.5 x 16 for the 1.2 TSi the say its 47 ET, a wheel they never made.

With the Leon if you bought a 1.8 TSi 17" was the smallest wheel that would fit since that car was fitted with bigger brakes than the 1.4. Its that fact that is causing concern with the Audi, would seem logical for that car to have bigger brakes as well. But its not like I am planning to buy wheels, already have them. If we get the car and they don't fit its not going to cost us anything other than e-bay fees to sell them later instead of now.
