    Default Touran crunching when downshifting into 1st gear – 19-09-2017,11:05 PM
    My wifes 2006 Touran TDi has recently started crunching when she's shifting down from second into first. I'm planning on changing the gearbox oil to see if that helps. Anyone else had issues with crunching 1st when down shifting?

    As far as I'm aware the box is fine in all other gears going up and down.

    Sounds like a synchro on the way out.

    If it was the synchro would it not crunch when going from 1st to 2nd (it only crunches when going down from 2nd to 1st)

    Does yours do it every time?

    The wife's car has only done it on a couple of occasions. I drove it for a few days and it was fine.

    not all the time, ive noticed that really depends how quickly i go into the 2nd gear. if slowly than no problem at all.
