A6 automatic gearbox help needed

Hello everyone, I am new to this so please bear with me if I have posted in the wrong area. I am looking for some advice on my A6 2004 2.5 litre automatic. I am just an Audi owner so I have no knowledge of cars or engines etc. According to my mechanic the gearbox has gone so I am trying to source a replacement one. The problem I have is that the code on mine is GHP and its proving very hard to find one with the same code. I am hoping that someone on this forum would know if any other gearbox code would be compatible with my car. I live in Ireland but I've been trawling breaker yard sites in the UK and in Germany. I have other information on my car if needed such as engine code, chassis etc. I would appreciate any help o or advice, thank you

I think this is the Multitronic gearbox, I have heard bad reports about it.

yes it is a multitronic but I'm stuck with trying to have it repaired or replaced I'm afraid

Is it the gear box that's faulty or the ecu that controls the gearbox
What are the symptoms ??

It's the gearbox unfortunately. I had the ecu replaced last year.

You try adverts.ie there is lads on that breaking a6 s that myt just have an autobox for an a6,not sure what sorta money they will be looking for though,just type audi a6 parts on search bar,who knows you myt get lucky
