Maybe you are thinking of walnut cleaning,
the Carbon clean method i was talking about uses gas to dissolve the carbon i was told. Got mine done and so far all good, increased MPG and the right foot is way more responsive. it can also drink a lot more when pushed now i notice...

I'd like to see the manifold and egr valve taken off and inspected after one of these chemical, gas or terraclean type treatments.
I suspect the treatment cleans the combustion chamber, injector tip, maybe the valve seats or ports a bit, and gives short to medium term improvements but seriously doubt they'd touch the crud in the photos shown in the posts above, I know it takes a fair bit digging out and solvent to shift and if it did somehow get removed by the chemical treatment it would end up partially burnt off in the cat converter. Anyone know any different ?

to be fair i am a bit skeptic, 30 mins to remove that?
but the results make me a believer, i would love to have a look and see, is there any bit "easy" to remove and look?

No I wasn't confusing it with anything. My concern was bits of carbon deposits being re-circulated through the engine. Call me a sceptic but I cant understand how it can be turned into a gas.

All these processes are snake oil, if we have to resort to a needle descaler gun, scrapers and wire bushes to get the main layer off and the an overnight soak in TFR to stand a chance of getting down to clean ally, how the hell is a quick enama with some "safe" chemical supposed to shift it? There is no way such a rinse would shift even a little of the crap in the picture below and if it did, the engine would lock up!

i cannot disagree but i have had it done, you know your self to measure improvement by the seat of your pants is too subjective.
However there was a considerable difference if you ask me, no question of an improvement.
Can i easily get in somewhere to see? I was going to buy one of those endoscopes so maybe this is the ideal excuse...

Much better way of dealing with NOx without raising soot levels .

The egr is simply out of date and belongs in the bin .
