    Passat b6 2008 2.0tdi EPB

Key/fob inserted as usual, all lights appeared as normal, usual sounds, fob fully home, engine turned but very slow, warning message appeared in red panel

    Engine....... GARAGE.

Removed fob, waited 10 secs, re inserted, engine turned over full speed and started.

    Has been perfect all day.

Could it be a strange battery fault? still the original, 9 yrs old, checks ok voltage wise, of course it cannot be as good as new one.

New injectors fitted, due to re-call..?

    Car is garaged overnight.

    Thanks.

You need a fault code scan, preferably using VCDS or a Professional scan tool as there will probably be faults recorded when this happened that will give an indication of where the problem lies.

Not always mate, I have this same problem like once or twice a year, would crank over but would not start, remove the key, start over, would fail on second time but then slowly start on third attempt.

I put it down to injector loom as I'm confident that a lot of my problems started since one of the injectors was replaced by independent garage and loom was left untouched.
Maybe same for OP...not sure, just saying that I never had a code for this fault so was never able to diagnose the exact fault so just left it

A scan should aways be the first thing you do though as it can help eliminate certain things including guess work.

If it is clear then it's onto good old fashioned mechanical / electrical diagnosis and checking things related to starting one by one until you discover the reason. Or follow up on the many could be this, could be that suggestions and get lucky.
