I'm just getting my head around all things MMI and have seen reference to 'vehicle code' in the literature (like the extract attached). Seems the code would have been attached one of the key fobs when new but it's not on either of the keys of my recently acquired '65 reg Q7. So, my question is will this be an issue when it comes to connectivity? If yes, can I get the code re-confirmed by Audi? BTW, going back to the dealer from where I purchased won't deliver any joy (incompetent and not Audi!)

I've had a similar issue where an official Audi dealer put the wrong key number in my glovebox. Cue several attempts to put he number in correctly (10 goes before it locks you out) before I rang to dealer to see what the problem was.

Long story short, Audi have had to order a new key - and three weeks after delivery I am still waiting. I think you'll have to order a new one from Audi.

Blimey, entirely new keys!! If that's my only option I dread to think how much it will cost.

Beyond MMI stuff, I'm assuming the code is also as a back up in case both keys are lost. Is there no other place the code is retained other than on a fob attached to a key? Seems a little risky.

Think my best bet is to call the supplying Audi dealer tomorrow, maybe they've a record.

    Cheers

No, not new car keys! Simply a new plastic key with the one time scratch off code.

Right, I'm now finally on the correct page! The code is only to do with matching a specific car to the MMI and the Connect services. I'll ask Audi about generating a new code for me when the car's in next month for it's first service.

    Thanks for the guidance.

Your dealer should be able to help, Mine warned me when I got the car that if I lost the piece of plastic it would be about £120 to get a replacement which was lucky as it looked like a random piece of plastic the garage might use to identify the keys.
