I don't know where it is but three VW mechanic MOT testeres have had their licences suspended for blatantly allowing DPF deleted cars through.

We had a Passat in the other day, the DPF had a big patch welded on the bottom, MOT man said no no. Anyway, it's easy to tell if a DPF is there, the tailpipes are spotless.

About 4 days after getting this done i thought the car felt a bit jerky. coil light came on on the way home, nursed it home and it died out and would only run for 10 seconds max!

Until today, i put a blank of the egr pipe near the dipstick and it started up straight away! It seemed quite smokey but cleared.

I then took it out a drive and back to the same thing, going up hills (putting strain on) fans are running and it starts to overheat! feels jerky like it did before when doing a regen but it doesnt idle at 1000rpm now

I let it cool down and left it back home until tonight i went for a 40 minute drive and it never overheated, but i did hear the fans come on

What is wrong here? my mechanic doesnt know, person that remapped it doesnt know, im lost!!

It has fault codes stored, you need to know wat they are first.

At a guess i would think you have a faulty fan control unit. 4 wires on plug heavy red heavy brown 2 thin wires from memory one is probably yellow and the other red and another colour. Heavy thick wires are obviously live and earth . Yellow will be activated via ac module and the thin red will be by engine control unit. Now you to check which is being activated. To find your answer. But i have found the main fan has its own controller built in that randomly activates itself and the slave fan.
