did I say I know more than you? did I say you ALL diesels would be like that? NO ... Come finger my tailpipe if that's what you're into, you'll get dirty black fingers and as I've said.. it still has both its EGR and DPF.

Would've expected a more intelligent response from a forum moderator, rather than the childish I know more than you how dare you question me **** swinging contest.. grow up.

Is a sweeping statement and rude....

We have serviced two DPF cars today, an A1 1.6 TDI and a Golf 7 2L BM and both had perfectly clean tailpipe internals. I'll maintain my stance that if your car is an EU5 DPF and if the tailpipes are black inside, then the DPF is not working as it should, if at all.

you say my reply is a sweeping statement, when in fact your original post of saying it's easy to tell if a car doesn't have a DPF, because the tailpipes will be black.. is a hell of a lot more sweeping.

If it wasn't working I'm pretty sure I would have some problems, and it wouldn't have just went through a successful regen the other week like it did

It isn't at all sweeping from my perspective as it is based on multiple observations of hundreds of cars over nearly a decade of servicing and repairing VAG vehicles fitted with a DPF. However your observation was based on one example. As I said, not working as it should, if at all. If soot deposits are left inside the tailpipe to any degree, it means the DPF is not as effective as it should be but does not mean it is not working.
