    Hi,

I've a got a 2006 A4 cab b7, and I have heat coming from under the steering column. It seems to be related to the climate control, because if I turn this off the panel under the steering wheel nearest the center console does not get hot.

I wouldn't normally be bothered, but this is not warm it's hot.

Tried googling and I've got nothing back. Never experience this kind of issue with any other of the cars I've owned in the past.

Is there a heater matrix under there thats is blocked or something ?

When I do turn the climate control on, it will get hot as the car warms up, regardless of whether the climate control is kicking out cold air or hot.

    Really annoying

Maybe the ducting has come adrift from the dash vents and thus blowing air wherever it likes

    Ok

Thanks for the feedback, today i managed to find time to remove the underneath panel to have a closer look.

So there is a lower vent, pointing towards the drivers side foot wel coming from the centre console, air is coming from a bove this. I initially thought it might be an actuater which is locking one of the flaps open. But when I alter the direction of the air to the foot well setting. The air does appear to be cominng from these vents. As well exscaping from above.
And when I do this, it does alter the temperature, althought the excaping air, says hot.

I'm suspecting the heater matrix pipe may have come loose, but not sure, and I;m seeking ideas before I start taking apart.

Ok, when to a guy in Warrington to get any fault codes, that might have been coming out from engine using VCDS

Nothing, which means I'm still guessing - if is ducting that has come loose then surely it would impact both sides. I'm still hopefull that it's a flap motor and sensor.

    Does anyone have any ideas.

So I get hot air coming into drivers side foot well, regardless of temperate. It appears to come out above the actual vent. I checked the other side, and hot and cold comes from the vent rather than hot air coming from above the vent. (CR*P) may be it is ducting coming away?

Does any one know how to get to this ducting?
Does any one know how to investigate this further - please ?
