That's odd - in Germany the VW dealer said it was Euro4 and gave us the green "4" sticker! Maybe that was before Euro 5 was declared.....

I can't access the pr codes to triple check at the moment as I have not renewed my subscription to the system whilst I was off last week but ELSAWIN says a CAYC with DPF is EU5 and the Febi data look up says your car is registered as an EU5.

I'll ask about trading in - the scrappage scheme at £4000 is similar to the car's value anyway.
On German sites the 1.0 tsi is getting very good comments from owners about performance, consumption and even lack of vibration. Most are talking of fuel consumption in the 53-57mpg (4.9 - 5.3 l/100km) range as being easily achievable. The cars are young and most early adopters want to be positive..............

The longevity of these moped engines in a Golf is seriously questionable, the 3 cylinder in the Polo since 2002 is a nightmare of burnt valves, worn guides, sloppy chains and oil pressure problems PLUS the stupid things cannot be rebuilt! VW have already said they are pulling back on the downsizing idea as it is unreliable.

I have looked up your cars actual build PR codes and it says "7MG Emission standard EU5", you may find this code number on the build sticker on the boot floor or the inside front cover of the service book.
