    Default 6 speed gearbox problem? – 30-08-2017,05:50 PM
    Hi all new to this vw thing & thinking was a bad idea
    Passat 130pd 6 speed
    Getting up to 30/35mph theres a whinning noise, noise dont change whilst coasting or accelerating, ive found if you wobble the gearstick it seems to be actually through the gearstick which makes me believe its gearbox

    Ideally i need something reliable due to work

    Common issue with the 6 speed FRK gearbox .

    The Passat B5.5 1.9 tdi is usually a very reliable machine , what happened is VW copied the earlier reliable 6 speed Getrag ELN gearbox and called it an FRK .

    So get a ELN fitted or I believe the 2.5 V6 TDI DQS also fits as both 240mm .
