Gearbox Issues

Hi guys,

New to the forum and i've been searching for possible answers. A long story short my 2.5 A4 diesel Automatic tiptronic isn't running healthy.

When in "D" and slowing into a turn/traffic lights it wont gearer down quick enough and will attempt a sharp turns etc in 6/5th gear... It makes the car shudder like it wants to stall. Now to stop this I have been driving the car in tiptronic manually selecting gears. This is much better to drive and I can lower the gears when they should be.

However when I open her up in 4th / 5th she shudders between 1500 - 2500 rpm. If i ease off she runs smooth. (I cant tell if it feels like slippage or loss of power)

A few lads from my work suggest changing the transmission oil (£300). The car has 170k on the clock and I have a new car arriving in 8 weeks. I want to keep this car, its been my best ever car but I suspect it could get costly.

Any advice would be much appreciated guys!

I have had the judder on my cvt gearbox. Ended up (after fluid change, D.M.F. renewal and 2 scans), rebuilding the gearbox £2600. Changing fluid helped a bit. The D.M.F. made a notable change to the way the car pulled but the judder remained. The solution was getting the box rebuilt. Didn't realise how bad the drive was until I drove the new box.
