    Hi all,

I recently wrote off my 2.2 I-Ctdi Honda Civic . Due to an increased premium my new car will have to be a little less costly insurance wise. Budget is around 2k and mkV golfs seem to fit the bill (I've heard lots of bad things re the markIV cars other than the 130pd which is too powerful so those are off the cards).

Which engines should I look out for/avoid. I believe my (sadly underpowered) options are:
    1.4, 1.4FSI, 1.6FSI, 1.9TDI.

What's the best bet from a reliability point of view?
Heard bad things about all 4 to be honest, but I just want to know what to look out for.

    Many thanks.

I’ve got a 1.6 and love it. Nice and light, my journey to work is down a lot of windy country roads and it’s a fun drive, boots it when it needs to move. Just make sure you get an iPod nano as the docking station is legacy socket, no aux or USB.
