    Help.
My12 3.0 tdi has just flashed up a gearbox overheating warning. It has 83k and full Audi history. I only got the car in May this year. Apparently it came with a rac platinum warranty.
Has anyone had similar issues? Or has anyone used the rac warranty?
    Thanks

When was the last time the gearbox was serviced? Could be old dirty oil in the box. The stronic needs regular servicing(38k) otherwise it will start breaking. With 83k it should have had 2 services already.

Agreed, oil change ASAP or if it was recently done, a level check. Break one of these and it will break your wallet.

It's been serviced by Audi (it was a company car). I'm not sure if they done the gearbox. I will phone Audi tomorrow and see if it's been done.

I think Gearbox service on stronic is a mandatory item and not a optional one like the air con service. If it's had a full Audi service history then I would say it's would be their oversight that it's not been done. Having a full Audi service history would put you in a good place for some goodwill if it's broken.

I booked it in to get the gearbox serviced but the warning came back after a day so I am no longer driving it.
I called the rac to recover the car to Audi for diagnosis. The rac guy got code 8040-p17d8 ( torque limitation due to clutch temperature)
Does anyone have experience with this fault? Also I'm hoping my warranty will cover this 🤞

Only seen that in stage 2/3 tuned cars with dsg's.
Have you remapped your car? Diesels produces a shed load more torque than tuned petrols and the gearbox is the weak link.

It's not been mapped (to my knowledge)
I did read something about tsb on this issue though.
