Just dropped it at the garage. Started first time at home. Got to the garage and it won't start again. Good job I didn't stall it. Temp gauge isn't working either. But will see what the guy says tomorrow and keep you informed

Looking forward to you having it fixed and also finding out what was wrong with it, wondering if it could be coolant temperature sensor? There's four pins on it two supply signal to ECU and the other two supply the gauge. It's given us another clue I think.

Hmmm, there has to be water in somewhere it shouldn't be, time will tell. B6 has two coolant temp sensors, one on the coolant flange at the rear of cylinder head and one at the bottom of radiator/ lower coolant hose.

I'm sure it's something to do with the ecu as it's picked up sometimes on the code reader and other times it isnt

Well if it is I hope it's something simple. Water in the OBD11 socket could play havoc with it.

So, the guy called me this afternoon. I actually thought he'd forgotten about me as he rang just after 4pm. The car was replicating all of the symptoms that it was doing for me which was good . He pretty much puts it down to the ECU been at fault and is sending it away tomorrow to be tested/fixed
