I suspect everyone receives the main dealer email/phone call invitation to get the air conditioning system serviced after 2 years?
Anyone know if it really makes any difference? And does anyone know what they actually service/clean/refresh for £75?
    Thanks.

I had mine done under warranty when it was 18 months old as it wasn't as cold as I expected. It made a huge difference and instantly gets cold now.
Unless the £75 includes the air con bomb to get rid of bacteria and smells then it's a bit expensive. Kwik fit does the guarantee if it's not colder they don't charge you for £50. It's just a simple re gassing. Most independent will do it for around the same.

I declined to have it done on my wife's 2 year old UP! earlier this year, but I dare say if your air con compressor packs up ( as my FIL's 4 year old yeti did when the pulley drive plate rivets came out) then a full service history including this air con service might stand you in better stead for any out of warranty goodwill. Personally i didn't think it worthwhile or necessary on our car as it's done about 7k in 2 years and air con is very rarely used.

They change the pollen filter and (I believe) also do the sanitisation thing.

Not sure it includes a re-charge... they offered me that at the last service and I declined but I did have it done alongside the MOT this year and it is quicker at dropping the internal temp.

Bear in mind that an aircon re-charge SHOULD be a complete re-charge and not some cheap "top up". The systems are designed to run with a specific weight of gas in them so they should be emptied and then a full (weight) charge put back in...

Not using is actually worse as the seals can dry out leading to loss of fluid. Better to use it regularly

Pollen filter gets changed in the inspection/major service normally regardless if you get the air con service.

I was advised to leave it if ok at 2y and get it done as a check up at the 3y service as most cars are still ok at that point. I had the BMW's done and it was noticeably cooler!
