Exhaust - bombing ?

Hi, I have issue with my Audi A3 2.0 Tdi Quattro, 170bhp. It's a 56 plate with a gen 66,000 miles. The issue I have is a a droning / booming noise emminating from the rear. It starts under load at 2,200 rpm and goes quiet at 2,400 rpm. Having had the wheel bearings checked I think it's the rear silencer. Not wanting to spend too much on a guess, I've been looking on eBay for a used one but there's a lot to choose from, hence my question - which rear section do I need, I guess the Quattro one will be different from a fwd. many thanks for any advice. Been reading these threads with interest looking for similar symptoms and what you guys have done to rectify the problems.
Have been suffering from similar issue's with my 09 A4 s-line 103K miles. Droning sound from N/s rear indicative of wheel brg but investigation could not find play or any feel of worn brg! tyres are good so head scratching for fault, exhaust all good & mountings sound.

Read a thread on here mentioning shocks! so as hard to tell if faulty i thought removal was only way to check for sure. hey presto N/s shock was absolutely useless little or no damping action. Purchased Sachs replacements from T.P.S. couple of hundred quid later what a difference in feel took all my time to compress the damper to allow installation.
incidentally O/s was as good as new replacement.

Just need to take car for a decent run to see if problem solved.
