    Hi,

I'm installing a thinkware F770 into a VW CC 2014, but I'm not sure which fuses to use. I'm wanting to use the parking feature of the camera, so I need to identify a fuse that is a constant live and also a fuse that only activates when the ignition is turned on.

Does anyone have any experience of which fuse to use on a VW cc? I've attached a picture of the fuse box.

    Thanks

    Chris

The best think to do is remove the screws holding the fusebox in place. That will give you access to the rear of the fusebox. Then unclip the back cover of the box if there is one present. Then you'll need a multimeter to check the voltage of each fuse. Then cycle the ignition on and off to see if the power supplied to the fuse is cut.
That's what I did when fitting DRL's to my previous 09 CC. It'll be identical method on the later model CC

What you are looking for are known by DIN standards number, the permanent live is called Line 30 (red) and the ignition live is line 15 (black). Modern CAN BUS VAG wiring doesn't have the old ignition live signal you will be used to and to achieve this you need to use a CAN BUS adapter that takes a line 30 feed and is instructed by the CAN BUS to turn on. There is a line 15 feed at the fuse board on the right hand side on a bus bar where you can push in a new wire with the correct terminal into a vacant slot such as 11 and you can also pick up a permanent live here at possibly 23 and 25 if you don't have a factory tow bar and almost certainly 33 and 35 will be free. All you do then is pop in a fuse and you have a factory look. The problem is getting the terminals that push into the spare slots can be tricky, VAG only sell them on repair wires and suppliers such as Wurth sell them in boxes of £50 at around £2.5 for EACH terminal, and then you need special un-insulated crimping pliers.
