I've got a C7 A6 2016 with the uprated Sat Nav, using a 1gb data only sim for the last two years.

Over the last couple of months, all the data is used up within 2-3 weeks and I don't know why. Previously I hadn't had any issues, it seemed that the car wasn't using that much.

Any thoughts on what might have changed?

Are there any devices attached to the car's wifi that might be using your data (eg phones/tablets)?

I'm not familiar with the FL, but probably your car tries to download a new map database, and as your data limit is smaller then the file size, it tries to download over and over again in each month.

However, MFGF's clue seems much more plausilbe for me too.

I know when I first got my car, I noticed my data allowance run out really quickly. It turned out that my phone auto updated its apps when connected to wifi, so as I was travelling, it munched its way through all my data updating Facebook etc!

Interesting to come across this thread as my A6 has used all its data a couple of times now and unsure as to why that would be possible. I don't think it updates its maps as its a 2014 model and i rarely used the sat nav. I'm sure the sime deal is around 2GB that's in it too.

The sat nav map updates needs started and doesn't update automatically. It normally asks you do you want to update. Normally around 14-16gb so your 2gb wouldn't have cut it.
I have a 1gb a month and have never went over it.

I've never been prompted to update the maps in 2 years of ownership so can't be a map update that's potentially causing my excessive date usage.

That's strange. Almost every 6 months I get a prompt for map updates and I go to computer to download them due to the sheer size of the files.

If playasyougo has had his car for two years, it's quite possible it is a pre-facelift model, and these didn't get map updates included - to update the maps on these cars is a chargeable task that needs to be carried out by a dealer.
