2006 audi a4 2.0T is making a tapoing sound almost like a bad lifter but louder. Dealership says its nornal. Anyone else having this issue?

The FSI engine is direct injection and it can be quite noisy but also they do get noisy in the valve gear as they age. One way of seeing if it is combustion noise is to clear the fault code memory with the engine running, normally they go quiet for a while whilst the injection strategy recovers.
