2008 2.0TDI S-line Multitronic 120k miles. Any idea what the rubbing sound is in the video? Also, any recommendations for new tyres?

    Thanks

We had one of those last year which we repaired (blown gearbox) and tarted up for resale and we put the usual Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on it, they are brilliant tyres made by Continental. I can't make out the noise but rear calipers can make odd noises when the discs are corroded or the pads seized in the carriers.

It sounds like something is stuck to a tyre. I have been eyeing up the Uniroyals. My last car was a mk1 Leon and I fitted Michelin CrossClimates to it. The difference over budget tyres was amazing so I am tempted to go for Michelin again on the A6. However, it is a case of £75 a corner for the Leon and £140 for the A6 At the minute I have three different generic brand tyres, each in different stages of wear and then a p-zero that is near new on the rear near side! With the Leon I was doing around 5-600 miles per week, whereas I am only doing 50 a week, with the odd 200 mile drive once a month or so. I am also having the dpf light come on about once a fortnight due to only making short journeys. Any idea what the petrol units are like in these cars? Going from a small 1.6 petrol to a 2.0 PD diesel makes my ears think that I'm driving a Massey Ferguson. I have a right mind to go looking at a V10 S6 (I know. Money pit.) to change this time next year once my insurance has come down another bit (I'm 21, so it's equivalent to taking out a mortgage).
I might get it jacked up this evening after work so I can check the wheels.

Petrol engined A6's are very few and far between, the four cylinder petrol turbo's are prone to sump sludge. I have worked on a couple of 3.2 V6 FSI quattros and they are very pleasant. The V10 engine can go horribly wrong (Lamborghini design) and the pistons can eat themselves, a new bottom end is £10K and a full engine £18K....

I would say something is stuck to or in the tyre.
