That is a problem with the central inconvenience unit, a fault code read and some analysis of the measuring blocks should show what is wrong.

I was scared to buy this especially second hand in DSG form. It had way too much to go wrong. Supercharger AND turbocharger? Its the sort of car I would only risk brand new and only then if I knew I'd get rid in 3 years. 85k miles is a reasonable lifespan for a supercharger and turbocharger. How much would it cost to replace both out of warranty? £3k?

Agreed, it is way too complex, fragile and expensive to repair for what is ostensibly a shopping trolley, a typically top end rebuild can be £3k and that is just stupid. We had the future in today, this cars latest evil twin, the GTE Golf; at ten years old with a major failure, it will be straight to the scrap yard and apparently that is progress......

OK now I'm feeling really dumb. How does the RON of the engine affect valve guide wear?

And attached is my fuel-flap door which contracticts itself by asking for SUPER but then saying 95 is minimum, and most standard unleaded is 95...

Depends on your interpretation of Super, one mans Super is another mans normal......

With the octane reduced, pre ignition occurs and the ECU pulls back the timing according to feedback from the knock sensor(s) but these are audio devices (AKA a microphone) and can be dull in their response so the more advanced timing of the map designed for higher octane fuel can put stress on the exhaust valves, long term this leads to guide wear and seat erosion, I had a Polo 9N 1.4 in today suffering from this and it is probably due to a lifetime of 95. If you consider that during running the ECU is constantly trying to push the timing to the limits of knock and you can see why years of such abuse take their toll.

Not sure if anyone can help.
Recently bought a mk6 tsi gt. been having some issues where the car won’t start up first time or will take a long time to start. I would understand if it was a cold start issue but it sometimes fails to start even when the engine is warm.
    Has anyone had similar problems?
