    Hi all,
I would like to ask your advise for Audi transmission specialist located in or near Reading. I have a squeaking noise coming from rear center of the car but unable to pinpoint it.

Idealy that person would have his own repair shop as well in order to carry on from diagnostics till fixation and testing.

    Thanks in advance,
    Guray

Are you thinking that the prop-shaft bearing has gone?

Yes, indeed, this is my point now. I was advised by my ex-mechanic to find a person capable to pinpoint the point of failure, instead of running expensive replacements. Looking to the current symptoms and information I gathered from internet, this is my current point to believe that rear drive shaft support bearing has gone.

    Regards:

    ************************
Symptom: A high pitch whining coming from the center underside of the car. The high pitch noise varies with vehicle speed. Lower pitched at slow speeds and higher pitched at fast speeds. It may even begin to make a screeching noise; especially when driven in cold conditions.

    Repair Solution:
To determine the cause of the noise put the vehicle up on a repair shop post lift with all four wheels off the ground. Driving the vehicle on lift and using a stethoscope, confirm that the noise is coming from the Audi center support bearing area (see image below). If it is, replace the Audi center support bearing.
