Looking at getting the missus a passat estate around the 2008 year
Am i correct by thinking the 1.9 is the more reliable engine ?

All i have heard is that the 2.0tdi is crap

    Want something cheap to run

    Thank you

The old 1.9s, late 90s early 2000s are the ones that are raved for. When people say 1.9 is reliable the are talking about a specific 1.9 engine code which I think was long discontinued by 2008. The 2.0 tdi's are good, each engine code will have its own issues with the BKP being the most notorious. The later the build, the better.
