    Hi,

I'm going to buy some high performance disc and pads for my TDI.

What's the best way to know the sizes for the discs and the right pads?

    Also what's recommend Brembos, EBC?

    Thanks,
    Jay

Grooved and drilled don't do much .

Normal Brembo discs with EBC Redstuff will work well .

Where possible up a disc size by purchasing a used caliper carrier , my Passat went from 288mm to 312mm , the laws of leverage physics give a real change .

Look at the PR Codes, they will tell you what you need.

Straight forward 288's. Black Diamond 12 grove and Predator pads work very well. Cross drilled discs are a waste of money.

we do these in 12 groove http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-4W...item19cc298199 but eBay have ruined our (and everyone else's) listings but it points you in the right direction.

No brainer , if it's 288mm get some second hand 312mm caliper carriers and 312mm discs , the pad remains the same 288 or 312 .

Yes 312 works very well and even just fits inside a 16. Rears, just bog standard Golf 5, fit Pagid discs and pads and save the money over fancy stuff for when you find you need two new calipers.

New calipers not required as 312mm caliper carriers space out existing 288mm calipers .

    Rears....

Although you raise an interesting point, WHY are the front calipers for a 288 to a 312 OFFICIALLY different but both are interchangeable? Tis one of life's unanswered questions such as, which day do I die......?
