Hi all - am I right in saying that the only way to get any sort of Adaptive Cruise Control (so the car will speed up / slow down depending on distance from car in front) is with the Tour Pack option at £1,695, and the standard cruise control without that option just maintains a set speed?

    Thanks!

Looks like that's the only way to get ACC when building a new Q7. Personally I wouldn't be without it. Makes for a much more relaxed drive especially in stop and go traffic both on motorway and in town

Looks like it's Tour Pack, Tour Pack Advanced or is standard on the e-tron.

As above to me it's one of the must have items and even more so doing long drive safety stick in traffic also it's like having a second pair of eyes i.e. If you get distracted or kids in the back we all have had cars break sharp and cars pull out on duel carriageways
with acc the car will break slow down if you don't

ive had acc for the past 10 years now on 3 cars and I'd never be with out

its not only so much better on long drive stuck in traffic and safety

guess you could think though if I've never had it I won't miss it
but if you have had it you wouldn't be with out it

just my thoughts and findings hope it helps

Not sure if I could agree with that: those 'auto' things irritate me all the way long. I'd rather invest that money into a better sound system or air-suspension etc. but again it's just IMO.

I’m with Max, ACC and HUD are musts for me. I could live without most of the other options.

Tour pack also gets you predictive efficiency assist and traffic sign recognition which work really well with ACC.

It isn’t perfect in all situations but you soon learn where it struggles and I switch between ACC and manual without thinking now. For the most part on A roads and motorways you can drive for ages without touching the peddles. I use it a fair bit in town too. Traffic Jam Assist is pretty good too.

I had ACC on my 2011 X5 but this is way more advanced.

Agreed, really useful both. Noticed that the fuel consumption takes a hit from all the minute adjustments to speed, but there is a Ying to every Yang.

I agree. I've had it for a few years now and I'd not be without it. Makes queuing in rush hour traffic a doddle.
My biggest problem is when I get in my other car and forget it doesn't stop automatically!

Think yourselves lucky... I've got an A6 Bitdi and the only way I could get it was part of a £4k option pack! To be fair I like everything else I got in that pack, but it was a big option to have to go with.

The ACC in the current Audis aren't as advanced as others I've tried (I think Volvo are ahead of the game with their current cars) but it sounds like the next generation of Audis, starting with the A8, then A7, A6 and then the range of new Qs are going to be pretty cutting edge with their autonomous driving capabilities. But regardless, the current systems are something I'd not be without.

I usually stick mine on then use the accelerator to react a bit quicker to pulling off etc, then let the system take over again.

Do Volvo use map data to slow down for bends now? Sure it didn’t used to, at least in the xc90 I tested back in early 2016.

I saw the new A8’s traffic jam assist is now totally hands off.

Not sure how that’s going to work when the police stop you whilst watching a film on the iPad when crawling along in slow traffic?? How do you demonstrate you weren’t driving?
