    Hi,
I know the pics are bad and somehow every pic I'm posting lately is getting resized to tiny, but can anyone see what might be leaking what seems to be oil in the front right corner, fairly high up in the engine? I do have a vcds fault code for N145 engine solenoid valve, but have been told this is harmless.

I'm not 100% sure it's oil. It's definately black and wet but it could be hydraulic fluid or coolant mixed with engine gunk.

Managed to get another pic looking upwards and from the side. The shiny thing is leaking. It's at the top of the engine, on the right hand side (looking from inside the car) and on the front of the engine, right behind the fan. What is this please?

Looking in ssp325 it seems like a cover plate over the camshaft adjusters. Guess it must be oil leaking then due to bad gasket? How serious and is it likely to deteriorate do you think?

I personaly have this problem on my 2.7tdi for 3 years now. No problem 'till today. There is no gasket on that side, it's only sealing paste. here:

If you want I can take a look at your engine type but I need all the data about your car.

Thanks L3, maybe it's a common issue which doesn't lead to a failure? Thank you for your offer of help. I have elsawin too so will look for that diagram for my engine.
