  1. Oil change interval PD 130

My car has 149k on the clock, it's an AWX 1.9 PD.

It was on longlife servicing before I got it, so I'm staying with the longlife oil but shortening the service intervals. What is the recommended interval for a car that makes a lot of short trips? I drive 10 miles to work, occasionally do some long motorway runs but mostly it's just pottering around locally.

10k miles seems a bit extreme for this kind of service, would 5k be sufficient using longlife oil or should I go shorter?

    Thanks

    10k/1yr is sufficient.

What are you basing this on? I keep hearing about how short trips cause moisture to get into the oil and unless you run the car for a good couple of hours it doesn't boil off, and over time that sludges up the oil.

Does the longlife oil somehow protect itself against that?

£20 or less LongLife oil , £4 Mann oil filter , do it every 6 months !

LongLife oil will perform better as more dispersants and detergents in the additive package .

Lots of short trips with the engine oil not reaching normal temperature can cause increased engine wear. The combustion by-. products are not burnt off and condensation is a problem ( in the exhaust as well). I once knew a guy with an immaculate old very low mileage morris minor. He did not think that the engine oil needed to be changed very regularly due to the very low mileage. The engine sounded like a bucketful of loose spanners !
I would be very suspicious of long life oil at £20 ( 4L ?). Counterfeit oil is not uknown.

I do my ASZ PD 130 every 8k with 5W40 fully synthetic PD oil from Europarts / Car Parts for Less and it's never missed a beat. Now on 120k.

Trade Parts Specialist. Brilliant they are. 20L Quantum LL3 5w/40 is £45ish last week. £17.99 for 5L and £4.60 for 1L.

Would definitely advise it regularly, changing camshaft costs a lot more and that was doing it myself... if your car was on long life service like mine to begin with, lift rocker cover and check camshaft if I were you. Lol.
