The MFSW buttons and horn stopped working and the airbag warning light came on after crunching sound when turning the wheel. It turns out the ribbon cable within the clock spring had broken so I swapped it for a new one from TPS.

After fitting I now get the following warning lights on the dash: Glow Plug light flashing, tyre pressure warning light on constant and traction control light on constant. The traction control and tyre pressure reset buttons no longer work. Cruise control also no longer works.

I have scanned with VCDS and get the following:

Ok, so I'm a bit closer. The coding in then new clock spring was wrong. I have recoded to the same as the new module and am now only getting fault codes relating to the steering angle sensor not being calibrated/initiated.

Anyone know how to calibrate/initiate the steering angle sensor?

The calibration function is in the basic setting menu.

Thanks Crasher. I tried that but get the message "Error: value not in range". When I check the steering angle with the wheels straight ahead is reads between -0.5 and +0.45 so I cannot see how the value is out of range.

Use security access 16 and enter 40168 and then go back into basic settings 060. Try it in Coding II, if that does not work.
