I took the car out of the garage this morning and drove to a shop and back, about 15 minutes. The Climate control seemed to be working normally and blowing coolish air, although it was around 30º outside, as the car was still cool inside. The aircon system has lost its gas, so doesn't work, but the fan usually provides enough circulation of ambient air to be reasonably cool.

I parked the car and took it out again about half an hour later, when my wife remarked that the system was blowing hot air. I then noticed that the display for the Climate control was blinking. I stopped the car and stopped and started the engine a couple of times, but this made no difference, so had to go to town and back with the fan turned off (by repeatedly pressing the "-" button)

I remembered I had parked the car in the sun, the dashboard was very hot, and the Sunlight photo sensor - G107 - was also very hot, but this is obviously not the first time the car has been parked in full sun.

A check with my VAG 1552 shows no faults with the system.

    Any suggestions, please?

I checked again with the VAG 1552. Still no faults, but noticed the coding of the Control Unit version was 00000 instead of the 00040 which I set when I installed the module.

Entered correct coding 00040 at function 07. Blinking on starting the engine stopped, but blown air was still slightly warm. I did basic settings procedure at function 04, channel 02, but no change.

Thinking maybe the warm air flap is not seating well enough?

Going to Spain again on Wednesday, and it's hotter there, so looks like we'll have the front windows down again.

Just rechecked coding is still 00040, and performed Basic Settings again, but this time put CC in Auto first, and allowed setting to complete.

Now blowing fresh, unheated air. I'll fix the aircon system when I have more time. I evacuated and refilled the system last year, but it leaked out in about a week, so a complete leak testing is needed, which means getting access to all the connections.

We can manage for now just by opening windows, we never had aircon in a car before, even when we lived in the tropics, and we run the house aircon on 26º, so no great hardship, as long as cold beer is available.
