    Hi,

Had out A4 just under 4 months and the standard headunit is rubbish (putting it nicely, you can hear it clipping on vol 19-22). its the one with the 6CD changer and Tape player (double dim)

Whats the best way to swap it out and put a single dim headunit in (i have a spare on ready just need to know what wiring i need to buy.) Or do i need to use a double dim headiunit?

    Cheers

    Newp

I found some pretty cheap single din adapters at the "local" stereo shop, like less than 15 Euro...the wiring was 10(I think?). If you have steering wheel controls, and want to keep the basics, then you will need the adapter, which I think was 30, so the most expensive part. Altogether, I paid around 60 Euro to sub my single into the double slot....but I also did a bit more than just new radio. If you don't care about the steering controls, all you need is the din adapter and the wiring...unless you also don't care about the wiring, just cut it and wire direct. All depends on how you feel about possible selling the car later. I wanted to be able to put all factory parts right back in, so bought all the adapters, for less than 60 Euros. I t was also pretty straight forward for the install, but setting the steering controls was tricky. I can go in depth on that if you need it.
