I have a 2009 VW Passat 2.0 TDi 130k on the clock. I have recently had the glowplug engine management light come on which has been scanned to a "Sensor 1 for exhaust temp Bank 1 (g235), Circuit malfunction". I believe this is the exhaust temperature sensor located next to the exhaust pressure sensor on the top of the DPF pipe bend.
I can't find where I can buy this from, when I search it just seems to throw up Lambda sensors. Is this the same thing, has any one got a link to a reasonably priced one? Is it an easy job to do? Any tips? I'm aware that if it snaps thats the DPF written off.

    Thanks

What is your engine code? The part you want is 03L 906 088 but the revision will depend on your engine as there are multiple revisions for this sensor (suffixed by letters A, AT, BS, CC, N etc.). It is the one that they call "before turbo charger" which basically means it screws into the exhaust manifold immediately before the turbocharger exhaust side. They should not snap as the thread is fairly course and the retaining nut around 17mm. You only need to slacken the nut with a crow's foot spanner and this should not put any strain on the sensor itself which rotates inside the nut.

Thanks the engine code is CBAB. There is also on that looks like it is in the turbo, I assume this is a different sensor?

G235 is the one in the turbocharger effectively as the manifold and turbo exhaust shell are one unit (the manifold is precast with the turbo exhaust side).

I would also check the the wiring loom from sensor to connecting block is not too close to or touching any heat shielding as this can melt the wiring. All sensor wiring should be clipped into the guides all the way along and spaced correctly.
