Anyone had this problem? I have been trying to update my GPS from a 2006 map version to 2015. I have ejected the old DVD and placed to newer version DVD into the drive but the DVD will not read. I get the error of "please insert DVD into Drive" it fails to recognize or attempt to read the DVD, I have had a diag test done and it says that there is a DVD error but the equipment that was used did not give anymore information than that> Further if i replace the DVD with the original 2006 version the GPS works fine so that proves that the DVD is still reading the disks. Any suggestions really appreciated. for infor the car is Audi A6 Avant 2.0 tdi Sport 2005

If it's a copy then the DVD drive is fussy and not all disk read correctly.

I have read up on this when making a backup of the original NAV disc.

There are only a few writers that work with the Audi DVD drive.

I burned twice my map dvd-s and worked both times with no issues. Both was done on different laptops . Dvd-s i used was Verbatim, but cant remember if +R or -R (its important to use right one) and at lowest possible writing speed. Google about which one or buy both -R and +R and try. Download from that link and try..there is newer and older one.

I think you need update soft on the mmi first in order to use newer maps

i Dont think that mmi update is nesessary. Only what newer mmi update gives is 3D view and it sucks. Very few street names will be shown while using 3d view. I updated thats why i know. So older mmi version will take new maps also. It has no other differents than some extra roads.

Yes agreed, there is no need to update the MMI (I have by the way updated to 5570 some time ago) to be able to update the maps. As I said in the original post I had a diag done by a mate but i dont know what he used, it came up with a GPS DVD read fault but that was all and the DVD will still read the original disk with no problems. Thinking im going to have to go to Audi and have them do a diag and tell me the DVD is faulty and i need a new one for 1500 quid
