I've got a 2017 A6 Avant BE 3.0 and recently have been getting a vibration from somewhere in the dash in front of me. It's worse on rough roads and with the air suspension is dynamic mode.

I thought I'd found it by taking the fuse box cover off at the drivers door end of the dash but that's not it.

It sounds like it's directly in front of me when driving and is sending me insane. I'm due a service in a month or so and trying to hold out until then, but wondered if anyone has found and fixed a similar issue?

Try to hold and push the cup holder's cover when you feel the vibration, as it could make such annoying noise.

Do you have the Head Up Display? They are known to rattle. Mine does...

Thank you. No HUD on my car and not the cup holder cover. It seems right around the clocks in the dash and is a real metallic resonating vibration. If I get to the service and Audi can't fix it either, the answer will be a can of petrol and box of matches it's so annoying

I've just solved a similar problem. It was the speaker grille on the dashboard. Apparently it is a known issue and a updated part is available to resolve it rather than felt packing.

Hope you find your rattle. They drive you nuts.

Thanks - that's a great steer to check out. Centre one or tweeter at the side by the door pillars. How did you prove where yours was?

Centre dash - the big grille. It was a tricky one to find. Ended up getting a mate to hold various bits of trim whilst driving around. Audi replaced the grille for the updated one without question.

Thanks for the help but I'm now sure it's not the speaker grille in my case.

I thought I had it sorted by adjusting the steering wheel height a smidge, but yesterday it was back after about a week of no vibration.

Noises in cars can be notoriously difficult to trace. Best bet is to use an old piece of hose pipe and a funnel, or just the hose on its own, to help isolate other noises. Put one of the hose to your ear and point the other to the direction where you think the noise is coming on and then let the hunt begin! This should then help a passenger to home in on the source of the rattle. Saturday Mechanic: Hushing Interior Squeaks And Rattles

I had an annoying knock in a previous car that I could have bet my right arm was coming from the seat belt mechanism above my right ear....turns out it was something completely different on the other side of the car!
