Whistling noise after new egr fitted. Turbo?

I've just had a new egr fitted by a trusted independent on my 2011 passat 1.6 tdi bluemotion estate. I have not had the emissions update done to my car and have no plans to after joining a very informative Facebook group. Sadly, the egr failed T 70k ish which is why I had it replaced. I have been driving for a couple of days with the egr and everything seemed normal but on Friday, I started hearing a whistling noise from the engine when pulling away and also when first applying throttle. It's more noticeable when moving and when the engine is warm. It also does it when reversing. I called my mechanic and am taking it back tomorrow but trying to work out what it could be and whether I can expect more bad news. Any thoughts?

Whistling is usually an air or vacuum leak so should be easy to fix if they can find it.
