I have a 2006 VW T5 fitted it's a Siemens VDO tachograph which I want to remove as it's now a campervan. I've read on a few forums that some of the wires in the tachograph plug have to be reconnected, & a 100ohm resistor fitted, plus the coding has to be altered in adaptations to 33 0, (which I've done, & the mileage appeared ok on the speedo).
Problem is, when I connect the wires as described, red to earth (or ground), brown to white/blue (speed signal) and resistor between black & yellow wires (that bit of the forum instructions is a bit unclear) - the speedo itself doesn't work. The red wire is about 10v when ignitions on, so does it really go to earth? Is the resistor in the right circuit? Any ideas, please?
