New member looking for help 2010 Audi A6 3.0TDI Avant

I am new to the forum and need some help and advice, I have a 2010 A6 3.0TDI Avant, recently the cooling fans start to operate pretty much as soon as I start up, they then run constantly and then shut down soon after switching the engine off, I have had a diagnostics completed by an independent auto electricians and it as identified the following
Fault 1684 ( P0694) Radiator Fan actuator 2, Short to positive, the garage confirmed this is most likely the problem, however they then stated that Audi's in general are a nightmare to work on and suggested I bite the bullet and take it to my local Audi main dealer. I have therefore been to my local Audi Main Dealer and they state they would need to complete their own diagnostics and it sounds like it will require a new fan motor, I have had a number of Audi's for over the last ten years and I am therefore aware of the Main Dealer repair costs, hence my post, any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

£1200 for new fans and wiring loom fitted at Audi. They are about £350 each plus fitting for fans and £130 for loom.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected, brilliant cars but honestly they really take the **** with their prices.

I was told it was ok to disconnect the Fan 2 by an Audi tech. Its a back up for the main fan in hot climates and when you are towing heavy stuff you have to be careful.
You will have a fault code logged but it stops the fan running all the time. Check you main fan is ok by putting on the Air con. It should run when it is on.
You can also check the fan(s) with VCDS in the engine ecu
