Hi everyone I've recently got an A6 C7 2012 3.0 TDI, I've got an issue with the fuel cap. It was sticking the first time i filled up so thought might be one off, happened again so lubricated it and tested, worked like a treat, done 500 miles and came to filling again and same problem couldn't get it to open at all at the pump station left it and drove home and when i got back to my amazement it was open quickly went and filled up. Called Audi they said to bring it in and they will have a look but £120 per hour for inspection, don't really fancy paying that to be honest. Thinking might just file the locking mechanism so it just open and closes without locking. Anyone had this issue ? How you fix it ?

This is a known issue on C7s - for cars under warranty Audi replaced the flap mechanism so that's almost certainly what the dealer will want to do to fix yours.

If the car has a main dealer service history you could try for a goodwill discount? It is a known issue after all.

The part needed is about £25 from Audi dealer and takes about 20mins to fit, no painting needed as the flap stays with the car. I did mine about 3 months ago. You have to be brave with a flat blade screwdriver but that's it. If your near the Newcastle I can do it for you free if you supply the parts.

Had mine fixed/replaced under warranty but they never reconnected the little drain in the bottom of the housing. Now every time the car gets washed it holds water behind the flap that runs down the side of the car when going around corners. Make sure they sort yours out properly when they fix it.

Thanks for the replies, I bought the parts and got
It done from local garage over the weekend, literally took the guy 15 mins. I bought the actuator and the cover as the rubber was breaking when i had a go myself. Its all fixed now so no more embarrassing moment at the pump.
