    Hi everyone,

I purchased a Golf GT TDI 2011 a month ago from a trader. A couple of weeks ago the emission light came on (the one that looks like a helicopter), I took this to a local garage who ran a diagnostic check on it and said the pedal sensor was faulty. I got this changed but then the light came back on.

Then a few days later the DPF light came on so I took it for a drive as its recommended and both lights went out. But today the emissions light has come back on again?

Can anyone shed any light to what the potential issue could be? I don't want to book it in with VW unless its last resort.

I have that and he has said that his diagnostic tool keeps bringing that up even after it is cleared. I have driven the car on the motorway now like I did when the DPF light was on but the emissions light still stays on

The EGR valve seems to be a common failure on these engines, possibly why the car ended up at the traders in the first place as it is not a cheap fix from what I've seen and heard. It might be worth finding a good VAG independent garage who knows these engines and confirming the fault then discussing with the 'trader'

I have a 3 month engine and gearbox warranty with the trader, however the previous owner did have some work carried out by VW which was to replace EGR valve and that was only 15 months ago, so it is still within two years warranty. I have booked it in as if it is the same issue they will sort it without charging me for it.

If you take it to VW and the car has NOT already had the emissions recall done, forbid them from doing the recall under pain of being sued.

6 months for the warranty? I'm confused!

Unfortunately the previous owner did take it when it was recalled so I do not have the option.
