    Hi all

I am in the process of changing the disc's and pad's all round and the master cylinder on the above.

I have got the disc's and pad's replaced and I am just waiting for the new master cylinder - there was a slight weap coming from the back of the master cylinder.

I would just like to know the bleed procedure after I have installed the new master cylinder - I know I need to bleed the ABS with VCDS - which I have a genuine Ross Tech - but is this done first before bleeding the calipers or do I bleed the calipers first, followed by the ABS pump?

Also there are 2 bleed screws on the master cylinder itself, do these need bleeding at any point during the bleed process?

    Thanks in advance.

they are very hard to bleed all the air out of. what i do is this. fit the new mc, fill the res up with fluid. slacken off both brake line connections and have an assisatant gently press the pedal down until fluid flows out, then the same with the bleed nipples, then loosen the pipe connections off again and do these again. loosen, pedal down, tighten, pedal up, each one in turn. do this twice on each and you should be able to get all the air out and not introduce any into the abs pump when you then bleed the brakes conventionally.

    Thanks zollaf

I have tried the above and still getting a soft pedal, I have used VCDS to bleed the ABS pump and I keep getting "not available", sometimes I can go through the process up to 4 times and then all 4 info blocks turn to "NA". The pump noise changed on a few occasions as though the air had gone and it was pumping pure fluid, but then go back to the same noise as though it is mainly pumping air.

I have bled each corner and seem to have all the air out but the pedal hasn't changed, I have checked for leaks again and can't see anything as yet but will have another look, it has now had 4 litres of brake fluid through it and the pedal is still soft.

When the module turns to Not Available does this mean the ABS pump could be at fault or is it just that air is getting in somewhere?

I have now spent well over 6 hours trying to bleed the system, to no avail.

Any other advice/info is greatly appreciated.
