    Hi

I ordered a new tensioner and belt but I was rushing.

It turns out my engine has a double-sided belt and grooved pulley instead of the single-sided and smooth I'm about to fit...

Does it matter that it's a different configuration, or is it OK as long as the pulley & belt are compatible? Engine code is ATD.

    Thanks, Andy

Or, is it possible to use the smooth (non-grooved) pulley tensioner with the double-sided belt? Or fit the old pulley to the new tensioner?

    Thx

GSF don't even sell the one with a grooved pulley which leads me to believe I can use a smooth pulley with a double-sided belt, and... I'm talking to myself, here.

GSF probably don't sell because it is not too common - makes it expensive and no one would buy.
Just from that I would not make assumptions that you can fit the other!

In the short term you'd probably be ok but the belt might want to wander across the smooth pulley, If the belt stays on longer term it would probably wear quicker, as only the tips of the belt grooves would be seeing the force applied by the flat tensioner puley.I can only think the belt is double sided ( grooved) and there is a grooved pulley to keep the belt aligned throughout it's tortuous path, maybe the flat pulley / belt combination had a tendency to run off and it was changed to double sided.
