Just about to pull the trigger on an A6 Avant s-line Ultra manual.

Happy with standard spec but it does include pearlescent paint.

PCP deal offered is £4.5k deposit, £350/month, 48 months. 20k miles/annum. Not quite sure on final value yet.

Sounds okay to me but I would value thoughts.

If I go ahead is there is anything that I need to ask about the deal (never bought a new car before!)

I think they have some big targets for June as they want to order and supply this month.

I might have gone with the s-tronic but I think that this takes the value over £40k so would incur the £450/yr tax despite the discount - correct?

    (private buyer by the way)

    any advice?

    Cheers

Personally I wouldn't buy an A6 manual, the clutch/DMF is about as sturdy as a toilet paper umbrella in the rain.

The problem is, Audi (in their wisdom) have managed to price the Avant 190ps Ultra s tronic at £90 over the £40k VED threshold if you add any metallic paint.

so £1800 extra for the auto box leads to another £900 over three years in tax. I don't mind giving Audi a bit more but I'll be buggered if the taxman is getting any more of my hard-earned.

I could just go for flat black or white I suppose.

It wouldnt matter. The £40k ved is based on the retail value not the price you pay.

The haggling is already done - 26% discount - £29650, but as mentioned above - doesn't bother the tax man.

Essentially adding an auto box turns this into a luxury car in the eyes of the Exchequer (who gets driven around in a 5.0l V8 XJ Sentinel!).

Then I would get a whole load of other options as well to make it worthwhile!

Tax man always has you by the short and curlies
But who actually pays ticket price for a car. I don't think I have ever paid the ticket price whether it's new or second hand.
Thats the bit that bugs me. Should be based on the price you pay.

    Sounds like a good price.

Who's the dealer (if you don't mind me asking)?

Inchcape - price matched to Coast2Coast quote - can't remember the quote dealer but they were in Laaaandan somewhere (city place names mean nothing to me being a rural bumpkin).
