    First question....is it meant to do that? In 8th ease off and occasionally revs drop to idle and nothing in gear indicator....freewheeling thing? Re engages smoothly and immediately but never seen that before.

    Yup it's fine it goes in to coasting mode

    You can also force it into coasting mode by pulling the right paddle when in 8th gear. Stops the battery regenerating but coasts for miles
