    Hi guys,

Think this car knows I'm planning to chop it in soon!

After getting the roof mounted seat belt fixed it's now decided to start messing with it's door locks. I've got a 2007 Touran Sport and the door lock seems to have failed on the front passenger door and I can't open the door from either the inside or the outside. Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can get the door open or how I can access the lock from the inside. If I can get the door open I'm good to replace either the wiring loom or the door lock itself as recently had to do this on the drivers door - only bug bear is that the drivers door was intermittent so I had some warning it was on it's way out but the passenger door lock seems to have gone from working fine to faulty without any warning signs. I've now got a 3 door Touran and it's starting to feel like I am chauffeuring the whole family around as everyone has to sit in the back!

I have noticed that when it's warmed up the car really struggles to start (cold starts fine first time) but if it's got warm after a run and I stop the engine for a couple of minutes say to pop into the local shop on the way home from work I'll struggle to turn the engine over when I get back in. Just wondering if a duff battery isn't giving out enough volts for the signal to get through to this lock even though everything else works fine (other locks unlock, windows lower if you hold the unlock button down etc. etc.)

    Thanks in advance,

    Scott

I hope you didn't start chopping the door to pieces! Your post was a while ago. After fixing my driver's window regulator and putting everything back I had the same nightmare scenario where it suddenly wouldn't open from either side! I found this video which saved my bacon : How to open a VW door that won't open from inside OR outside - YouTube

He uses a scrap door and only grinds the door to bits so you can see the internals of what you need to do!
In my case I only had to go as far as pulling the outer handle to see the little catch piece (with lock cylinder painted trim still on) and as I freed it with a mini screwdriver it set itself a notch further back and worked after that. This is because when putting everything back together I'd not put the catch end back exactly where it was. This doesn't sound like your problem because you've not disturbed the catch like I did. However you could go to the next step with yours and use the coat hanger 'hook' method to get the door open.
